This is a month of garden activity – prepare soil mixture of beds and pots. Sow, seeds of winter annuals i.e. Alyssum, gazania, petunia, phlox, verbena, dianthus, calendula, Marigold, salvia etc. Healthy seedling start arriving in garden shops – better select these from 3rd week onwards. Summer annuals – portulaca and Gaillardia to remain in pots, water moderately, keep on the dry side.

Chrysanthemum: Final potting of large flowering, for one bloom in 8" pots for 3 or more blooms in 10" pots using final potting mixture. Feeding as before, stake carefully, all side shoots/growth along the stems of large flowering to be removed. Pinching in small flowering to continue till end of the month. Feeding in all as before. Keep rotating the pots every week stake properly.

Seeds of sweet-peas, Lupine and Ranunculous to be soked over night and sown (sweet-peas at site). Bulbs of Gladioli, ,freesias,Chinchirinchee,Sparix, Hyacinth, Narcissus to be dipped in Bavistin solution (one tea spoon in one liter water) for about half an hour and then dried before planting. Better plant Lilliums next month.

Lawn: Watering, mowing etc as before.

Roses: Take care as before, remove suckers regularly.

Carnation: Take care as before, from the new growth along the stems retain strong five or six stems only.

Kalanchoe :All would be growing well.Pinch all old plants.If they are long enough one can take cuttings and fix for rooting in washed sand.. Cuttings of hybrid varieties of rooted should be fixed individually or more in pots with soil and manure mixture for proper growth.

Vegetables: Brinjal,Chilly, Cauliflower,Cabbage,Tomato, Broccolli and palak may be sown this month.
