(i) Chrysanthemum: Take care of all plants, most of them have formed buds and start showing colour. Take care that stakes are lower then the buds and are fixed loosely. No feeding in plants showing colour only watering, spray insecticide for control of pests etc, if required. Do not use Rogor.
(ii) Dahlias: Fresh cuttings in thumb pots arrive now select healthy ones with names and plant in 3 inch pots after dipping each in Bavistin solution. Keep these in semi shade allowing morning sun for a few days and then moving out in the open gradually. Start liquid feed, weak solution one week after potting, twice a week, from 2nd week start granular feed (top dressing) once a week, water copiously for two days – no other feed on these two days. After four weeks shift these into 10" pots using final potting mixture and fix stakes in giant and large dahlias no pinching, all side growth along the stem to be rubbed off regularly. In pompon, water lily and others to be grown as a bush- pinching the top tip, the new growth also to be pinched when long enough repeatedly, fix stake in all carefully as needed. Feeding in all dahlias regularly.
(iii) Roses: Watering, de weeding etc regularly. Foliar feed one tea spoon each of M.O.P. + urea in one litre water on new growth once a week.
(iv) Annuals: All to be cared for, pinching in alyssum, petunia, phlox, verbena, salvia, better remove buds in petunia and alyssum. Antirrhinums, cineraria and pansy seeds germinate late, seedlings of these arrive now – select healthy ones. Sweet peas needs special care – seedings when 6 inches tall to be pinched, from the new growth retain three strong stems and cut off others. Fix support as required. Remove, fine tendrils regularly. In summer annuals – shorten hanging stems of portuleca water moderately, in Gailardia remove matured flowers regularly.
(vi)Kalanchoe: Take care as before.Continue to keep them in long periods of darkness.
