(i) Seed Collection of all winter annuals if not done so far. Keep them with names and date/year in air tight small poly bags etc. Seeds should be mature and well dried.

(ii) Chrysanthemums: A spray of Dicofol/Kelthane/mit 505 etc to protect from red spider mite in these hot dry conditions. Wash them with plain water in the evening, once a week.

(iii) Dahlia: All cuttings well in growth keep pinching. Protect from strong sun, better allow morning sun to avoid tall and lanky growth.

(iv) Lawn – water and mowing when required.

(v) Roses: Water every 2nd or 3rd day copiously – wash the plants occasionally early morning or late in the evening and deweeding regularly.

(vi) Gladiolus if not lifted in May should be lifted now. Soak in 0.2% capton or 0.1% Bavistin for about half an hour – dry them in shade and store in cold storage.

(vii) Remove faded flowers of Amaryllis not the flowering stem, this is allowed to dry up and then cut. Crinum bulbs to plant as also zephranthus (Rain Lily).

(viii) Carnation: Protect from strong sun, new young plants also.

(ix) Kalanchoe:Cut all the withered flower stems.Protect from scorching heat and rain especially the hybrid varieties.

(x) Vegetables – Okra, Onion, Pepper and Brinjal/Eggplant seedlings can sow this month.
