1. Annuals: Most of the varieties of winter annuals must have started flowering and some of them may be in their full bloom. Regular watering and occasional weeding may be carried out. Seasonal plants in pots may be shifted to some sunny and protected spots to protect.
2. Chrysanthemums: Almost all the varieties finish their flowering by the end of this month. Select plants for getting cuttings in the next season and cut them by keeping 4-5 cm from the ground.
3. Dahlias: Tall growing annuals like Dahlias may require support of stakes for their proper upright growth. Second feed should be given when the buds just start appearing. This feed should consist of 5-8 gms of DAP, 5 gms magnesium sulphate and 3 gms each of Potassium.
4. Roses: Continue removing faded out flowers and suckers to improve the quality of new blooms.
5. Vegetables – Melon, Watermelon seeds can be shown now. Brinjal/ Eggplant and Peppers seedlings can be sow this month.
6. Permanent Plants: The deciduous plants (which shed their leaves in winter) can be transplanted without any earth ball before they start sprouting. Pruning and training of these plants should be done before they start sprouting.
7. Potted Plants: Keep the potted plants in protected area to save them from cold injury, particularly during nighttime. Watering should be done regularly. Liquid cow dung manure may be added to weak permanent potted plants.
8. Lawns: Lawns must be in dormant stage now. There is nothing much to be done except.
Happy Gardening!!
