1. Annuals - : It is time to remove the winter annuals from the beds and prepare the same for summer flowering annuals. Transplant the summer annuals seedling like Cosmos (Orange), Gaillardia, Gomphrena, Kochia, Zinnia, Portulaca etc.
2. Bulbs - Dig out mature winter bulbs, treat them with fungicides like Bavistin or Indofil and store them in a cool dry place.
If not planted so far, plant summer bulbs like Football Lilly and Caladium after treating them with fungicide.
3. Chrysanthemum - If you intend to produce your own mums next season then it is time to transplant the suckers to a shaded area. Carry out the pinching of spray type and other small-flowered varieties. Regular watering must be done.
4. Dahlia – Now it’s time to store dahlia tuber for next season. Will separately post how to store dahlia tuber.
5. Rose - The main flush of flowers is over. Now is the time for the removal of root suckers and dry flowers. Prune excessively long branches to give a compact shape to the plants.
6. Vegetables – Bittergourd, Bottlegourd, Tinda, Cucumber, French beans, Okra, and Watermelon seedlings can sow this month also.
7. Permanent Plants - It is time to prune and train permanent trees, shrubs and creepers wherever required. Timely watering, weeding, and hoeing should be done. Spread manure around the plants and mix it well in the soil.
8. Potted Plants: Keep the shade-loving potted plants away from direct sunlight. Pinch the multi-branched plants to give them a compact shape. Replace the top two-inch soil with well rotten Farm Yard Manure and water thoroughly. Repot, if the plant has outgrown the existing.
8. Lawns - All types of grasses grow very fast during this month. Give a fortnightly dose of Urea. Remove the weeds and mow the lawn regularly. Irrigate the lawns regularly preferably through sprinklers.
